Its Over!

Last Day

SENIORS! the time has come to get ready for what we like to call life. Its has been a lovely and most memorable four years at Southwest high but now we must learn to let go and say bye to our fellow class men  and favorite teachers as they have helped us get passed these four year filling us with their wisdom and taking nothing with us but the memories we've had. The laughs that we've shared will be missed having to say goodbye may be hard but when you think of it we all eventually have to move on . And then there's college the place you worked so hard to get in to, to become the best of the best its a another four years of school that will determine who we want to be in life whether its a pediatrician, a writer, or a teacher. So don't think back to high school and remember the bad things such as the homework and bad day but as those days were you learned to become you and no one else. Have fun seniors your last day of school  and to all of you graduating good luck with your future class of 2013!

Why the Chinese are so freaking smart!

Education is required and free for Chinese citizens age 6 to 15 though parents must pay small fees for books and uniforms. Chinese children all get a primary and middle school public education. Each classes averages 35 students. After middle school, parents must pay for public high school though the majority of families in cities can afford the modest fees. In rural parts of China, many students stop their education at age 15.
There are a growing number of private schools in China for wealthy Chinese as well as dozens of international private schools. Most international schools will only accept Chinese who hold a foreign passport, but Chinese public schools are required by law to accept children of legal foreign residents. There are over 70 schools approved by China’s Ministry of Education to provide foreign instruction. Unlike local children, foreigners must pay a yearly tuition which varies but starts at about 28,000RMB.
In high school, Chinese students begin preparing for the competitive  National University Entrance Examinations. Seniors take this Chinese version of the SAT in the summer. The results determine which Chinese university test-takers will attend the following year.

Free Period

What do you think seniors prefer, having no 6th period or having no 1st period? Half of the seniors said that they prefer having no 6th period because they get to go home early, eat, go to their job or have free time. The advantage of not having a 6th is great because you can have plans to do something with your friends or family. It also gives you time to go shopping for school events such as prom and homecoming, you can leave school and start shopping for the stuff you will need . There's also a disadvantage to this , because if you don't have fiends who don't have a 6th you will have to wait for them to get out. But the other half say they like it better without 1st period because they get to sleep in. Most of the students who prefer not to have a first period participate in a sport, have to wait on their smaller siblings or have after school activities. So I think if you don't have anything to do after school or don't work then not having a 6th period is more better for you.

Yearbook

OH MY GOD! Did you see the yearbook? It's out already! It's that time of the year when yearbooks are out and the reminiscing begins. Who knew that a yearbook can be so small and have a large amount of memories in it. Everybody gets a look and everybody gets a picture. From the coolest guy on the field to the shyest freshman on campus, the book covers it all. Open house, football games, homecoming, pep assemblies, you name it! Everything you can think of that happened in the school year is there. Not a moment passed by where there wasn't a staff member on the job. From early mornings to late nights, the production of the book was vital. Simply because it had to be the best one yet. Trying to satisfy everybody is not an easy job, but it is accomplishable. The stressful deadlines, the all nighters, and the early mornings were all worth it in the end. The facial expressions of the crowd were what made it worthwhile along with the "Aww I remember that!" The yearbook is out so why not check it out?

Gradnight 2013

Gradnight is just around the corner! On May 30th seniors are going to have a lot of fun all night. After four years in high school, seniors across the country are celebrating their final days before college. Graduation activities represent a fond farewell to a teenager's high school years. It is a tradition going to Disneyland every year senior’s graduate; now it is turn for the class of 2013. It is their last time for some; to spend time with their friends, the same friends they knew since elementary or middle school. It will be a great day to remember in the happiest place on earth with your favorite people. Even though it will be a long night; we as teenagers have a lot of energy that we can sure spend on a single day. This will be first and last day seniors will be able to celebrate all their achievements before graduating and continue with their lives. Some students are really excited for gradnight because they know it will be an unforgettable experience in their High School memories. Now the only thing seniors have to do is have fun, a lot of fun because they know they deserve it.

Senior Year

As your high school years wind down to a close, it's easy to feel like each semester and every day goes by faster and faster. Senior year will be one of the most memorable years throughout your High School career. This year is where you have to be mentally prepared for what’s coming next in your life, it can be stressful and difficult to handle but in the end all the hard work you did during those four years pays off. As of today there are only 2 days left for seniors and there are mixed emotions in every student. We are no longer part of SOH, the school that open their doors to us, and now we are leaving it forever. This will be the beginning of the end; our school career will not stop here the class of 2013 has a lot more to give. Some people would say senior year was one of their “best years of their lives” however as our class quote says “This is only the beginning” there are more good years to come, but there’s no denying that senior year will be memorable. It’s the year where you remember all the activities you lived such as Homecoming, football games, school assemblies, Prom, Graduation, etc. These events will never erase from your mind, SENIORS! Let’s make the best out of us! Every class has their own special thing. However we are a unique class full of many stars, as some teachers would say; the class of 2013 will be remembered as one of the best ones. So don’t cry it is only the beginning.

What time is it? Summer movie time!

Hey Raiders! Ready to start summer? What better way to kick it into gear than to watch the newest, anticipated movies of the summer season? Let's start with some action! Man of steel, a movie based on the DC Comic Man Of Steel is coming to theaters soon! Whether you're a comic book fan, or just wanting to see what the hype is all about, Man of Steel is one of the most anticipated movies of summer 2013, something you can't miss watching! Aside from action, how about some family time? Monsters University is another anticipated summer movie, rising from nostalgia of your childhood. Mike and Sully are heading to college, and future Raider college students, wouldn't you like to experience Monster's University as well? Okay, so maybe family and action aren't your thing, so how about some suspense? The Purge is not as anticipated as Monster's University and Man of Steel, but if you're up for a little thrill and suspense, even a little scare, don't miss out on watching The Purge. Raiders, whether you're a huge Pixar fan; want to see Superman live in action; or want to know why everyone is wondering what The Purge really is, you shouldn't miss out on watching the latest, soon to be released films of the summer!
