Study Tips

SUHSD Tries Early Finals Schedule
by Omar Arce
It has been 17 weeks. School started over a month early on July 27, and many students did not even get a chance to enjoy the summer. Perhaps the best thing about the new school schedule is the fact that we get extra vacations: two weeks during October and an extra week for Christmas vacation. And now, only a week of regular school separates us from finals week. What this means is that it is Go time! final exams are what makes the difference between a D and C. Here are some study tips for finals:
Review the material right after class when it's still fresh in your memory.
Don't try to do all your studying the night before the test. Instead take it one section at a time.
Have all of your study material in front of you ( lecture notes, course textbooks, study guides and any other relevant materials).
No cell phones, or magazines or the remote.
Start out by studying the most important information. Fun facts are what they are, just fun. If they will not be in the test, do not waste memory on trivial facts.
Take short breaks frequently.
Understand the material well, don't just read through the material and try to memorize everything.
If you choose to study in a group, only study with others who are serious about the test. Not the goofball of the class, or the girl that has a massive crush on you.
Listening to relaxing music such as classical or jazz on a low volume can relieve some of the boredom of studying. But do not get all "Glee" over Calculus.
